Mammillaria microhelia "Little Stars" is a slow growing cactus that will reach 5~6cm across and form occasional offsets. Its nickname "Little Stars" comes from the dotted spikes growing all over the stem of the plant. It will produce yellow or red flowers in a ring on the plant in late winter.
It should be kept in a pot for best look, and can remain in the same pot for many years. It can be placed outdoors under covers, or in a sunny position indoors. Growth is controlled by pot size, watering and feeding.
It is drought hardy and will tolerate light frosts.
Plant You Will Receive
The plant you receive will look similar to the one displayed in the photos.
The plant in the photos is displayed in a 70mm pot.
It will be sent bare-rooted, without soil. If you would like a black plastic pot to go with the plant, please select the "With 70mm pot" option in the shopping cart. You will then receive a 70mm plastic pot with your plant.
Recommended Care
Buy potting soil designed for Succulents and Cacti, if you're uncertain about soil type. Alternatively, you can use 50% normal potting soil with 50% pumice.
It is a good idea to place small pebbles as top soil to steady the stem of the cactus as it grows.
Usually water once a week is sufficient. Soak the soil completely, then let it dry completely before re-watering. Cacti do NOT like soggy soil stuck around their roots, so a bit more neglect is usually better than too much coddling!
Postage
Due to quarantine restrictions, we apologise that we cannot send plants to WA, NT or Tasmania, or outside Australia.
Postage Australia-wide will be by Australian Express Post. To ensure health of the plants, orders will only be posted on the first Monday or Tuesday after payment has been received (so that plants are not stuck at a post depot over the weekend).
We are happy to combine postage on purchases of multiple plants:
For a 500g Box = $10 ( usually fits up to 6 plant of this size)
3 Kg Box = $15,
5Kg Box = $25.
